Current employee says NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo made suggestive comments, ogled her in new accusation

ALBANY – An employee in New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office claims the Democratic governor ogled her and made suggestive comments to her and other staff members, becoming the latest of more than a half dozen women to accuse the governor of inappropriate behavior. Alyssa McGrath, an executive assistant, detailed her claims in an article published Friday by The New York Times, telling the newspaper the governor would remark on her looks, comment about her marital status, and once stared down her shirt and commented about a necklace.  “He has a way of making you feel very comfortable around him, almost like you’re his friend,” McGrath said. “But then you walk away from the encounter or conversation, in your head going, ‘I can’t believe I just had that interaction with the governor of New York.’” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo speaks before getting vaccinated at a church in the Harlem section of New York, Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Sheltered From Virus, Kauai Plans Cautious Return to Tourism

LIHUE, Hawaii (AP) — As the coronavirus ravaged other parts of the U.S., residents of this rural Pacific island watched safely from afar. Kauai, one of the world’s most sought-after vacation destinations , has been nearly impossible to visit for most of the past year, with officials bucking pressure to ease quarantine rules as the state’s economy tanked. As a result, Hawaii’s least populated county has been one of the safest places to be. Hair salons were open, kids went to school and played team sports, and residents enjoyed restaurants, bars and beaches without the typical hordes of visitors — or the fears of surging virus numbers. As of last week, Kauai has had only 217 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic, compared with more than 28,000 statewide. Now, local officials are loosening restrictions, saying early measures and the island’s departure from a state testing program that allowed in more people gave it time to build a strong foundation of public health. Harris uses UN speech to champion women's role in democracy

Kamala Harris declared "the status of women is the status of democracy" on Tuesday, in her first speech before the United Nations as the first female vice president of the United States. "Eleanor Roosevelt, who shaped the Universal Declaration on Human Rights , once said, 'Without equality, there can be no democracy.' In other words, the status of women is the status of democracy," she said during the UN's 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. "The status of democracy also depends fundamentally on the empowerment of women. Not only because the exclusion of women in decision-making is a marker of a flawed democracy, but because the participation of women strengthens democracy," Harris added. The vice president's UN debut comes less than two weeks after she spoke to the European Parliament to mark International Women's Day. The appearances are meant to establish Harris as a key Biden administration emissary on the intern
